Annalies De Beauvesier
Annalies was raised in The Netherlands and Germany. Being born to a Dutch mother and an Indonesian father led to a life of diversity, not only through her parent’s cultural differences but also having lived in three different countries. Although born in the US, she, her brother and mother moved to Holland when she was a year old. She returned to the US at the age of 19. Her father’s love of drawing ignited a little spark that over the years steadily grew into a flame, finding expression throughout various avenue’s. It wasn’t until she turned 50 that she allowed her passion specifically for wall art to be realized. “Fear, doubt and insecurity are toxic feelings. Its energy will cause a crippling effect on one’s psyche, a paralysis of sorts, resulting in the inability to fully be free and
become your true authentic self. I have given the “finger” to these toxic feelings and in the
context of creating and feeling inspired, I am embracing the fact I am an artist, and can refer to myself as an artist. Dare to be seen, put yourself out there and just have fun!” Annalies predominantly uses pre-used canvases and recycled materials for her art pieces which can include acrylic and recycled paint, as well joint compound any discarded glues, spackle and other forms of medium that will bring dimension to her pieces.
Ellen Sklar
My art is about telling a story, to lead you down a path through my paintings. There is a sense you have been in this place before, something that waits to be revealed. It is about capturing a mood, an emotion, a slice of time. I enjoy painting architecture. I believe the buildings reflect the souls who lived here. The windows appear like eyes looking out at people looking in. The doors welcome you inside to discover their secrets. I strive to add a sense of humor, of telling a story, with a responsibility to record what I see in everyday life and in nature. Suddenly what was there, may disappear—that building, that field, etc.. I am struck by the solitude, the history of old cemeteries, weathered buildings, and forgotten fields. In my studio work, I am surrounded by beautiful objects both natural and created as I try and preserve their essence. Studio painting allows me an opportunity to bring out what lies inside
my mind, from memories, dreams, and life experiences. For more information on my process please check out my website at: www.esklar-art.com. My educational background is listed there as well. For interest in my professional illustration please
see: esklar-illustrator.com, it is closely integrated in my fine art
Megan Ellis Salazar
About her artmaking process, Megan Ellis Salazar states, “I do not want to merely describe the people and places I observe; I want to express how I perceive their essence in my mind’s eye.” Being a traveler with a nomadic childhood, she is fascinated by the variety of people and places she explores. Yet she is inspired by the constants as well: the acts of kindness and the beauty of sunlight she can find anywhere. She is a playful artist–playful with her palette and playful with the interactions between ink, paint, and drawing media.
Salazar acquired her BFA at Penn State and her master’s degree at Rhode Island School of Design. She is a founding teacher of Liberty Common High School, teaching there since 2010.
